Big, bigger, biggest? Or are. smaller watches just in right now? Watch sizes say a lot about your style, status and personality. But what is actually the trend at the moment? Big and flashy, or is the subtle, smaller size gaining ground?
In recent years, we have seen a clear shift in watch sizes. Whereas large, robust watches dominated a decade ago, there is now a bit more diversity. Watches with a case diameter of 44 to even 50 millimetres were for a long time the norm for men who wanted to make a statement. Especially brands like Panerai and Breitling and TW Steel of course, known for their hefty designs, were unprecedentedly popular. These ‘oversized’ watches exuded power and luxury. And are still totally up-to-date and wildly popular. But nowadays, a counter-movement also seems to be emerging. Classic and elegant are also back in fashion, which means that sizes are getting smaller. For men's watches, we are increasingly seeing sizes between 36 and 40 millimetres, inspired by the vintage designs of the 1950s and 1960s. Brands such as Rolex and Omega are continuing this trend with their new models, which are often slimmer and less flashy. The trend is also changing in women's watches. Whereas women's watches used to be mainly around 26 to 30 millimetres, we now see the preference shifting to slightly larger sizes. Ladies are increasingly choosing watches between 34 and 38 millimetres, sometimes even men's models. But are bigger watches your thing? Fine, because they are still spot on. Do you prefer a slightly smaller model? Also good because you're still up to date with those too. The variation in sizes is now greater than ever, giving everyone the opportunity to choose a watch that perfectly suits their style.
